BSides Austin functions as the largest yearly security conference in the state of Texas. Featured as the keynote speaker, center director Daniel Ragsdale presented Next gen CTFs: Integrating blue-team oriented and live network challenges into jeopardy-style CTFs along with Texas A&M graduate student Andrew Meserole and software engineer Nate Graf.

Daniel Ragsdale, director of the Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center, said denial of service attacks are “very difficult to defend against” because they involve contacts from hundreds or thousands of computers located around the world. Victims can’t block every one of them because they might be blocking legitimate customers, he said.
