TAMUctf, a competitive cybersecurity capture the flag (CTF) team at Texas A&M University, will host their own CTF tournament in February, which will be an online competition consisting of a series of challenging problems meant to test the cybersecurity skills of the players.
The TAMUctf Mission:
TAMUctf is an organization that aims to make cybersecurity more accessible to the public. By leveraging the CTF style of presenting challenges, we hope to make learning about cybersecurity easier and more enjoyable.
CTF to learn?
If one is aiming to educate for cybersecurity, the question may arise “why educate using a competitive platform?” The answer lies in the way Jeopardy-style CTF competitions partition challenges. By clearly partitioning challenges into categories, it makes it easy for users to identify objectives. TAMUctf aims to take this method of representing challenges and put a twist on it.
What makes us different from other CTF platforms/competitions?
The TAMUctf team has spent the last few months enriching the CTFd platform with new features. Some of the most exciting features include
- Simulated network exploit environment – perform network exploits without a physical network!
- Secure coding challenges – audit insecure code to see if you can find and fix vulnerabilities!
- Progressive challenge discovery – only shows users challenges correlated to their skill level!
- Multiple Question Plugin – adds support for multiple questions to be answered before points are awarded!
