Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center students traveled to Austin for the Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge, a cybersecurity policy competition sponsored by the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative. This challenge was held at the University of Texas School of Law, and drew 24 teams from across the country.
Students were accompanied by Gary D. Brown, professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service and a longtime collaborator with the Center. Texas A&M fielded two teams: an experienced team that advanced through the semifinals to finish third out of 24 overall, and a junior team that turned in a strong performance but did not advance past the preliminary rounds.
Cyber 9/12 challenges students to navigate a simulated cyber crisis, requiring them to analyze evolving incidents and present policy recommendations to a panel of judges with real-world cybersecurity and policy expertise. The competition offers CLDP students a chance to apply their technical and analytical skills to the policy side of cybersecurity.
